MODIFIED BITUMEN

Modified Bitumen. Redundant Waterproofing for Demanding Facilities.

The system of choice when redundant waterproofing, high foot-traffic tolerance, and phased installation on occupied facilities are the priority. AOD installs two-ply and three-ply SBS and APP systems.

  • Systems

SBS: rubber-like flexibility, excellent cold-temperature performance. APP: harder, more UV-resistant. Two-ply minimum on

federal. Three-ply standard on BOP facilities.

  • Occupied Facility Protocols

Torch-applied requires hot-work permits. Cold-process and self-adhered systems used where open flame is restricted

  • RAMP™ Notes

Cap sheet granule loss and lap edge adhesion are primary maintenance focus. Roof drain integrity is critical — mod-bit with clogged drains degrades rapidly. Properly maintained three-ply achieves 15-20 year service life.

  • Applications

Federal corrections, retrofit over existing BUR, occupied institutional facilities, high foot-traffic mechanically-dense rooftops.
